Yes. ZoopZip's core app — including Live Transcribe, its real-time speech-to-text feature — is free forever, with no account and no subscription. An optional one-time Pro upgrade adds the most accurate large-v3 model, unlimited length, batch transcription, AI Cleanup and speaker labels.
Yes. Once the app and a Whisper model are installed, Live Transcribe runs entirely on your own computer with no internet connection. Your voice is never uploaded to any server.
Not directly. Live Transcribe shows your words in real time inside ZoopZip, where you can edit them and then save or paste them anywhere. It is not a system-wide dictation tool that types into other apps as you speak. If you specifically need hands-free voice typing across every application, a dedicated dictation tool such as OpenWhispr, Handy or Spokenly is a better fit — many people use both.
ZoopZip runs OpenAI's Whisper models, which handle 90+ languages. Use the large-v3 model for the best accuracy on accents and non-English speech.
Transcribing a finished recording is usually the most accurate, because the model sees the whole file. Live dictation is optimized for speed so you can watch text appear as you talk. For the cleanest result on important material, record and then transcribe the file.
