The ZoopZip app

ZoopZip is offline speech-to-text software. The core function of the app — turning audio or video into text — runs entirely on your device using a locally-installed model. Your media files, and the transcripts generated from them, never leave your computer and are never transmitted to Amiplay or any third party.

What the app never does

• It never uploads the audio, video, or transcript you are working with.
• It does not require sign-up or a user account to transcribe.
• It does not run background analytics or usage tracking.

The few things that do use the network

A small number of features need an internet connection because, by nature, they involve fetching something from outside your computer or verifying a purchase. None of them involve your media files or transcripts.

• Downloading a speech model. When you choose a model in Configuration → Manage Models, it is fetched from Hugging Face's public model hosting. That request is a standard file download and is subject to Hugging Face's own privacy practices.
• Transcribing a YouTube (or other) link. When you paste a video URL, ZoopZip fetches that video to your computer first, then transcribes it locally exactly like any other file. Only the URL you provide is used to locate and download the video.
• Checking for updates. ZoopZip periodically checks a small version file on zoopzip.com to see if a newer release is available. This is a standard web request; our web server sees the same basic connection information any website sees (see "Website hosting logs" below).
• Activating ZoopZip Pro. If you purchase and activate ZoopZip Pro, the app sends your licence key and a device identifier to our licensing server (api.amiplay.net) to validate the licence and enforce the seat limit tied to your purchase. The device identifier is a one-way cryptographic hash derived from your computer name, username, and platform — it cannot be reversed back into that information, and it is used solely to recognise which of your own devices are activated. Payment itself is handled entirely by Stripe; ZoopZip and Amiplay never see or store your card details.

Download statistics

When you download ZoopZip, the request passes through a redirect that records an anonymous, aggregate count: the date, the platform (macOS or Windows), and the country your connection appears to come from (determined in-memory from your IP address using a standard geolocation lookup, at the moment of the request). Your IP address itself is never stored. The result is a running tally like "42 downloads from Germany on 2026-08-07," not a record tied to any individual visitor. This data exists purely so we know which countries and platforms ZoopZip is reaching.

Contact form

If you use the contact form, the name, email address, and message you provide are sent by email to our support inbox so we can reply to you. They are not stored in a database on the website.

Website hosting logs

Like virtually all websites, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser user-agent, and requested page) for security and operational purposes — this is routine web server behaviour, not something ZoopZip adds on top, and it is not used to build profiles of visitors.

Cookies

The public site does not set tracking or advertising cookies. The only cookie in use is a session cookie created if you (as the site administrator) log in to the internal statistics dashboard — ordinary visitors never trigger it.

No analytics or advertising trackers

zoopzip.com does not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any comparable third-party tracking or advertising script.

Third-party services we rely on

• Stripe — processes ZoopZip Pro payments. See Stripe's privacy policy.
• Hugging Face — hosts the speech models the app downloads. See Hugging Face's privacy policy.

Data retention & your choices

Because transcription happens on your own computer, your media files and transcripts are entirely under your control — ZoopZip never has a copy to retain or delete. If you activated ZoopZip Pro, you can deactivate a device at any time from within the app. For any question about data the website holds (for example, a message sent through the contact form), email us and we'll assist.
